First Impressions Matter

Date Published 24 January 2017

We often say that first impressions matter. Whether it's reading the cover of a book, preparing for a job interview, meeting someone for the first time or even just selling a second hand item, we want to create a good impression. We clean and polish, have a wash and brush-up or put on smart clothes. We want do our best to sell ‘it', or us. However, when it comes to creating a good first impression when selling our house, we can sometimes benefit from a friendly reminder .

Living in our houses on a day-to-day basis we can sometimes not notice something that is obvious to others looking at the property for the first time. I firmly believe that part of our role as professional advisors is to assist clients in presenting their properties at their best, whether it is a simple clearing of leaves, or a more drastic measure like painting or even replacing the front door. Ultimately, these small things can result in more viewings, better feedback and quicker or better offers.

If you are thinking about selling, stand back and have a look at the front door or the drive. Could it do with a proper clean and some TLC ? Is it worth painting or even replacing? In our opinion, it is an exercise worth taking the trouble over in order create that vital good first impression. If you would like a more detailed opinion on any work that may need doing, together with an up to date idea of your homes price, please do call us. We would be delighted to visit you and offer our assistance with no obligation.
